1st vocational school of Heraklion Crete: The students’ age ranges from 15 to 18. Our school is divided in 3 grades: A, B and C .The total number of students is 450 and there are 40 teachers. In the 1st grade students receive a general education. They also attend lessons in Technology or Business Administration & Economics. In the 2nd grade students choose one of the following sectors: Economics, Computer Science or Health & Beauty. In the 3rd grade they complete their studies and prepare themselves for national exams in order to get into Technological Educational Institutes or Universities. The school is closely connected with the labour market as we are a vocational school; many of our teachers specialize in vocational subjects. In our curriculum there are also subjects that deal with Economics, opening and leading a private enterprise or active job searching. We prepare our students for their future work as e.g. computer programmers, tourist industry workers, and in Business Administration & Management. This is why the school has special classrooms/workshops where students receive practical training. Also, we are in close contact with several employers in our region (restaurants, bars, garages, car service stations, etc.)

Fulston Manor School is a non-selective secondary in the county of Kent in the South-East of England. The school belongs to a selective area and is in very close proximity to two grammar schools. Sittingbourne is located in an area with low aspirations and low rates of progression into Higher Education. The population of the school is 1,300 and the curriculum is delivered to students between the ages of 11-18. Within this curriculum, students study a wide range of subjects; Humanities, Science, Mathematics and Social Sciences; Art, Geography, Music, MFL and Businesses Studies. The range and quality of subjects delivered has seen the Sixth Form at the school become very popular and an increasing of number of Fulston Manor students apply to university each year. There are 85 teachers at our school. The school is part of an academy trust, with strong links to a number of other local secondary and primary schools and has earnt a reputation for excellence in its teacher training programme. The idea of community is very important at Fulston Manor, the original motto being “May they learn the art of friendship” and the ethos repeatedly used in documentation “Everybody matters, Everybody succeeds, Everybody helps”. Fulston Manor School, having nearly completed an Erasmus+ project with real success, is eager to seize upon the opportunity presented by a European exchange and is eager to participate in this project to develop the positive effect of the Erasmus+ programme.

The majority of students, about 70 percent, are town residents, while the rest of 30 percent are commuters, coming from the rural areas of the Neamt County. There a re 48 teachers who work at school. The students from middle school classes learning here are of various family backgrounds. Leaving aside those who come from well-organized, emotionally and financially solid families, there are many students who are confronted with numerous hardships. Thus, some of them come from disorganized families or mono-parental families. Others are supported by relatives or acquaintances because their parents are working abroad. Likewise, a good number of students live on the verge of poverty. All these reasons, individually or combined, mean we have to fight against some students’ intention of abandoning school as well as against some parents’ decisi ons of not letting their children continue attending school.
